We have all the tips to getting your online store ready for lift off, quickly and painlessly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to sell<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen making the decision of whether to start an online store or not, it\u2019s important to note that products sold online are not limited to the tangible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>How do I sell something I can\u2019t ship?<\/em>\u201d you ask?<\/p>\n<p>A perfect example is for a <a title=\"personal trainer website\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yola.com\/make-a-personal-trainer-website?utm_source=yola&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=pt\">personal trainer website<\/a>. Let\u2019s go ahead and start adding products, shall we?<\/p>\n<p>To start, log into your account and hop on into the \u201cOnline Store\u201d tab in My Yola. From there, click \u201cNew Product,\u201d and we\u2019re rolling.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6325\" src=\"https:\/\/blogcontent.yola.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Online-Store-New-Product.png\" alt=\"Online Store - New Product\" width=\"500\" height=\"302\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From here, we will add the details of your first product.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> SKU<\/strong>: SKU numbers stand for \u201cstock keeping units\u201d and are purely for your own organization. If this isn\u2019t something you\u2019re set up for, you can go ahead and leave this field blank.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weight<\/strong>: For shipping purposes, the weight of your product is important. Do not leave this field blank unless your product is an intangible item that will not be shipped (e.g. eBooks, software, digital photos, etc).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Name<\/strong>: Add a name your product. If you can\u2019t find the perfect name immediately, you can change it at any time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: As much as your customers would enjoy it, your profits won\u2019t be skyrocketing if you\u2019re advertising your products for free. Be sure to add the price of your product here. You can always do free or discounted promotions with coupon codes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Product Image<\/strong>: Don\u2019t forget to upload a picture of your product! Scroll to the bottom to find your product image uploader.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve completed the necessary fields, go ahead and click \u201cSave and Close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Voila<\/em>! You have your very first product. Repeat these steps, and you will have a full online catalog in no time! Our Online Store is integrated with <a title=\"What Payment Methods Can I Use? - Ecwid\" href=\"http:\/\/kb.ecwid.com\/w\/page\/15853303\/Payment%20options%22%20%5Cl%20%22WhatonlinepaymentmethodscanIuseinEcwid\" target=\"_blank\">numerous different gateways<\/a>, but some great options are American Express and Sage Payment Gateway.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have chosen your payment gateway, simply set it up by going to: <strong>System Settings &gt; Payments<\/strong>. From there, choose your payment method, fill in your merchant account credentials, enable your gateway, and you\u2019re set. In doing so, you will have three calculation options to choose from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> Flat Rate<\/strong>: Set a flat shipping rate, or specify free shipping.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Custom Table<\/strong>: Customize your shipping costs by weight, number of items or cart total.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carrier-Calculated<\/strong>: Automatically calculate costs based on carrier rate tables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To add a shipping method:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to\u00a0<strong>System<\/strong> <strong>Settings &gt; Shipping<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>New Shipping Method<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<li>Select the shipping region, and then select the shipping method.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>, and complete the provided steps.<\/li>\n<li>To activate a shipping option, click <strong>Enable<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the Origin Address tab to add shipping information. Click \u201c<strong>New Zone<\/strong>\u201d and add the countries, states or regions where you will ship products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gain traction<\/strong><br \/>\nNow that your store is up and running, there is one more thing you\u2019ll need to become fully functioning \u2013 customers! Here are a few tips for you to give your store the kick-start that it needs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Answer Questions<\/strong>: Because your customers cannot connect with you the way they would be able to in a physical store or get a tangible feel for your product, no online store is complete without a Frequently Asked Questions category. Show your customers that you\u2019re no novice in the retail world \u2013 answer all of their questions before they even <em>think<\/em> to ask.
