Website of the Week: Comforts of Home

Website designer Jane Davison created Comforts of Home for business owners David and Aimee Keenan. Their mission is to provide non-medical home care in order to increase independence and relieve stress for their customers and family members. They strive to “build trust through open, honest communication and reliability” which is evident instantly upon visiting their warm and welcoming business website.

Earlier this year my grandmother decided she could no longer handle living on her own. As such we had some difficult decisions to make and as the family member who spends the most time online, I found myself researching our options on the internet. Based on that research I can honestly say this website meets many crucial needs for families deciding on how to care for family members that can no longer care for themselves. It is a difficult time to be sure, so the informative and caring tone used throughout the custom built website works to ease the concerns of family members and their potential clients.

Site creator Jane Davison had this to say about her experience with Yola:

What I love about Yola is that it has allowed me to better serve the needs of my freelance clients—most of whom are very small businesses, usually sole proprietors, who have limited knowledge of the internet, no knowledge of how to build a website, and extremely (or non-existent) budgets to handle this level of marketing. I can now set the sites up for them, provide all the things that I do best—copywriting, photography, branding, some limited interface design, etc. without having to also invest long hours in Flash, Java, HTML, Dreamweaver, etc. Furthermore, when I am finished with their site, I can provide them with some personal tutorials so they can be self-sufficient going forward, logging into Yola, making their own tweaks as needed, and then bringing me back in when their budget and needs allow. This ability to add a really solid web solution to my overall set of design services has been not only timely and sorely needed, but extremely fun and easy to accomplish. I’ve tried a lot of other website builders, but only Yola has made this kind of work not only possible, but a serious joy. Thank you!—Jane Davison

  1. Hi,
I think there are some great small business sites created through yola. Mine is a bit different. It is a community site rather than a business site and it makes a lot of use of yola’s widgets especially video and pictures. Having Picnik on board and the HTML box have been particularly useful. This is my first website and I have Yola to thank for making it easy. I’m still developing, and though its not the smoothest or most attractive site I hope visitors will like the ‘clickiness’ of it.

So far it has cost me nothing – but I intend to take up silver membership next payday and then start working on the site optimisation etc.
