Featured Website of the Week: Julie K Photo

A new year, a new look! A couple weeks ago we featured Malwitz Design and shared the designers experience in creating a graphic, single page style website. Website owner and photographer, Julie Kalua, was inspired by her design and set about redesigning her website, Julie K Photo, just in time for a fresh start for 2011!

We asked Julie about her website redesign and she told us this:

I am a visual person, and I wanted my site to portray that, but using less space, and unlike other photographer websites that force the viewer to sit through a huge slide show before getting to the main content. Using my photos as links, I feel that is has a modern feel, and gets my viewers to the info they are looking for right away. I utilized the same photos as links at the bottom of every photo gallery to aid my viewer in getting back to whatever page they want to view without having to go back “home”. I eliminated the whole “about me” section by inserting my photo into the banner. I feel that my style and personality stand out without me having to define what kind of person I am. I have created a circle of referrals from my website to my blog, to Facebook, to Twitter and back to my website. I am still working on it, refining it, and also requesting feedback from followers on Facebook and my blog.

Yola makes it easy for every user to create a web space, even if they don’t know how to make one. That is why I chose Yola, because not only can I create web spaces, but I can also help out my fellow small businesses owners who are struggling to get online.—Julie Kalua

We believe strongly that a website is never finished, so cheers to Julie for her efforts to keep her website fresh. It’s a time for resolutions as we enter into this brand new year. Will you be making any changes to your business website? If so, we’d love to see them and hear all about your updates!

We wish you all a wonderful, safe and happy new year!
