Your website is hanging on our wall!
We love our customers and the websites they make, so Pete, one of our founding engineers, felt inspired one day and wrote a script that he used to take screenshots of over 30,000 Yola built websites. He then compiled more than 10,000 of the images captured into this mosaic of the Yola logo to remind us of your awesomeness every day. The finished mosaic was printed on a huge canvas and is proudly hanging over Stacey’s desk in our SF office so everyone who walks through the door can bask in your glory.
Take a closer look, maybe you’ll see your site in there!

Secret Santa’s Shop Yola Sites
Lots of offices host Secret Santa gift exchanges, but not many offices have millions of amazing small business websites to use as their virtual shopping mall!
Yola’s Secret Santa gift exchange has a twist, we are only shopping Yola built websites for gifts to exchange at our company holiday party.
The rules are simple, gifts must cost no more than $20 and must be bought from an online store built using Yola.
If you have a Yola built website with an online store containing products in the $10-$20 range, our Secret Santa’s are eager for shopping suggestions. Please post a link to your recommended products and our Secret Santa’s just may shop your website!
Even the best Santa’s can use a hand, so please help us with our Christmas shopping. We can’t wait to see all the loot we discover in your amazing business websites!

Yola Gives Back to the Community
At Yola, not only do we love helping our users make a website, we’re also passionate about giving back to our community. On Saturday June 19th, we participated at a tech fair hosted by the Tenderloin Technology Lab (TTL). This fair, which takes place in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco, CA, is free for the community and aims to help low-income San Franciscans learn valuable technology skills. We helped students achieve this goal by teaching a class on web design using Yola.
The response was positive and many were surprised by how easy it was to get up and running. “This is so easy – I can’t believe I have my website,” said one of the students. The TTL also provides a state-of-the-art technology training center with 38 computer work stations, so that students from the class can go back and continue working on their websites. We’re looking forward to helping out again at the next technology fair! If you’re also interested in volunteering, check out the TTL website for more information.

ACCION USA Holiday Campaign Powered by Yola
Our friends at ACCION USA have kicked off their year-end fundraising campaign by creating a great website with Yola. The website, which you can check out here, describes ACCION USA’s work to support the 22 million small businesses owned by microentrepreneurs in the U.S. It also includes a thought-provoking video (microentrepreneurs account for 18% of new employment in the U.S.!), which we’ve embedded below.
Yola has been working closely with the team at ACCION USA to help support U.S. small business owners and we’ll have some exciting details to share over the coming months. In the meantime, if you’re a donor looking for a great organization to support then ACCION USA’s holiday campaign is a great place to start. And if you’re a small business owner looking for a loan to help grow your business, learn more about ACCION USA here.

Our Support Team Rocks
We’ve always thought our support team was fantastic and now it seems that the rest of the world is noticing as well! Over the past month, the Yola team has received 2 big honors.
First, SupportAwards.org recognized Yola for having the best customer support across all industries, beating out legendary brands like Zappos and Apple. In addition, our own Monique Viljoen-Platts won the award for the most outstanding support agent. Go Monique!
Second, Yola was the subject of a Forrester Research study about how we’ve leveraged the strength of our community in Get Satisfaction to scale our customer service as we’ve grown. The study offers tips for other companies who are looking to improve their customer support though their communities.
Our support team is always working on improving their service and it’s great to see them get this kind of recognition.

Yola Needs Your Help with Kiva Loans
After a fantastic event at SOCAP09, we’re pleased to share that Yola’s Kiva Lending Team contributed $7,500 to support entrepreneurs around the world. Starting today, Yola will be matching that amount and we need your help to identify great Kiva entrepreneurs who need funding. Here’s the plan:
Yola will be accepting Kiva loan recommendations via Twitter so start following @yola today. To nominate an entrepreneur, post a message like this one from your Twitter account:
@yola fund this Kiva entrepreneur: Beatrice is a 25-year old dress maker in the Ashanti region of Ghana bit.ly/8Safr
Twitter only allows 140 characters but that should still leave enough room to share something interesting about each of the entrepreneurs. Don’t forget to include a link to each entrepreneur’s page and @yola so we see your recommendation.
For more information on Kiva, read about them here. And for an interesting article on SOCAP – which Yola and Kiva co-sponsored last week – take a look at this article from the Economist.
Now let’s get lending!
