Adding a hit counter

Adding a hit counter to your site is an easy, but not necessarily the most effective, way to track the visitors to your site. A service like Google Analytics gives you far more detailed and useful information about the visitors to your site, and it has the added advantage of only being accessible to you in your private account (see a link below on adding Google Analytics to your site).

If you still decide that you want a hit counter for your site, there are various ways to add one:

Add a hit counter by using the Widgetbox Gallery:

1. Drag and drop a Widgetbox Gallery widget onto your page.
2. A dialog box will open, search for "hit counter".

3. Choose the counter that you would like to use on your site and customize the settings.
4. Click on the green "Get Widget" button and it will be saved and added to your page.
5. Save and preview your page to view the widget.

Click on the Advanced folder in the content sidebar. Several of the integrated services have hit counters (Widget Box and Google Gadgets). Here's one you can find on Google Gadgets: hit counter. To add this widget to your site:

1. Drag and drop the Google Gadget onto your page (you will find it in the "widgets" folder).
2. Click on the link in the dialog box that will take you to Google Gadgets and search for "hit counter".
3. Copy the code and paste it into the Yola dialog box.

If Widgetbox and Google Gadgets don't give you a hit counter you like, you could search for "free hit counter" and use a service like website-hit-counters.com. You can embed one of these hit counters in your page by:

1. Copying the HTML code the hit counter service provides.
2. Dragging and dropping an HTML widget onto your page and pasting the code into the HTML editor.
